Beignet Anyone?

October 4, 2016 By lydiatjia Leave a Comment

I did this drawing when I was taking an “Imaginary Trip” course with Laura Ferlita. We “traveled” to New Orleans and “explored” the city and it’s surrounding areas. I learned about Cafe du Monde and its famous coffee and beignet. I found this picture of another cafe and couldn’t help but draw it. It’s so “French” and so pretty.

I believe this was the beginning of my obsession with drawing buildings. It is strange since I have no background in architecture or even perspective drawing. And yet every time I see beautiful buildings, streets, etc., I am drawn into them (no pun intended). Maps is another one of those that always stir something in me. One day I will start drawing maps, illustrated maps that is.
